Not so wonderful spam…

In a move almost as awful as the pig-eyelid goodness found in spam fritters (apologies to all you spam enthusiasts out there), the Bare/not email was hacked yesterday and some of you might have got rogue emails. It’s a bummer.  Sorry guys, unfortunately this was out of our control, so if you do happen to get any emails from us, please don’t open them. We’ll resume regular non-spamming soon ;-).

We are working on stuff honest…

If you are part of our mailing list, you may have received an email yesterday or this morning purporting to be from Bare/Not Projects, unfortunately a virus has got into our system and has sent our a collective email with the Trojan virus on it.

Please delete any emails sent from that email address.  We have updated our system and are in the process of increasing security and hopefully your virus software will have stopped the virus in its tracks.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and for the trouble.

We are in the process to set up our website and in the meanwhile we’ll  set up a temporary email address for any urgent communication. Also, please feel free to leave a comment on the blog.

Image to Object

Collaborator with Bare/not, Daisy McMullan, has co-curated a new exhibition at Redgate Gallery, called Image to Object. The exhibition opens next Friday and promises to be an awesome show. Here’s the lowdown:

A group exhibition exploring the relationship between the nature of the image abhsbdnd the object whilst challenging the boundaries between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional disciplines.

Featuring works by: Ana Cockerill, Angelo Rambaldi, Ben Mellor, Desmond Brett, Carlos de Lins, Caroline Attan, Claudia Borgna, Daisy McMullan, Frank Pohlmann, Furrah Syed, Jacek Wankowski, Mark Sowden, Matthew Kolakowski, Susan Forsyth, Sue Skitt and Sharon Drew.

Private View: Friday 14th of January 2011 – 6.00 pm to 11.00 pm

Exhibition runs from: Friday 14th of January – Thursday 3rd of February 2011 Gallery Opening Hours: Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri: 11.00 am to 6.30 pm – Sat: 12.30pm – 5.00 pm

Last day of Exhibition: Thursday 3rd of February: 10.00am to 5.00pm

Red Gate Gallery invited a group of artists to submit work for an exhibition in January 2011 titled ‘Image to Object’. Artists are asked to submit works which explore the relationship between the nature of the image and the object whilst challenging the boundaries between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional disciplines. The exhibition will ask where the image ends and the object begins, and discuss how the artist’s process or intervention transforms the image into an object, or vice versa.

Taking inspiration from art which uses devices such as the vitrine, archives, assemblage, found-objects or ready-mades artists are invited to test the interface between space, material and process.

The work presented throughout the duration of the exhibition will be in any form, including, but not limited to, painting, drawing, photography, installation, sculpture, live art or performance art.

With an innovative approach to medium and a slew of intriguing artists, and even a nod from The Independent, this exhibition looks set to be a fascinating examination of the external nature of art as a craft and how this relates to the psychology and message of the work itself. For an all-encompassing look at means of expression in an age where anything goes (I am personally, very excited about the vitrine…) Image to Object is a must see…so be sure to pop down.
